If you love handcrafted industrial furniture with a creative twist, our Ouseburn collection is for you. The Ouseburn Collection is range of minimalist furniture that’s inspired by an area of Newcastle-upon-Tyne where creative industries and vibrant neighbourhoods flourish in a former industrial area of the city.
Hairpin legs in a choice of colours meet handcrafted solid wood furniture in this collection of pieces for living and dining rooms. In this creative and quirky collection of hairpin furniture you can choose from a choice of wax finish colours as well as the colour of the hairpins themselves. Choose from the classic industrial look of raw steel, or go for more on trend metal finishes such as brass and copper. Or, if you’re feeling bold, choose brighter colours for your piece.
Complete the look with other pieces of hairpin furniture from the Ouseburn Collection including the hairpin bookcase, bookshelf and the hairpin console table. You can coordinate the leg colours, or mix and match for a really quirky style.
The Ouseburn Hairpin Desk With Storage will be delivered to your home requiring assembly – simply screw the legs onto the piece.

Wood & Wax
Sustainably Sourced Wood
Funky Chunky Furniture’s shelves, mantels, and furniture are crafted from responsibly sourced wood. We work with suppliers who prioritise sustainable forestry, ensuring forests are well-managed to support biodiversity, protect wildlife habitats, and promote long-term regeneration.
Solid Rustic Timber
To make these hairpin desks we select top quality, unsorted, kiln-dried pine. Each Ouseburn Desk is cut to size and finished in our signature rustic style. This leaves in lots of natural timber characteristics and features. Mother Nature’s own stamp of approval.
In this style you can expect to find splits, cracks, knots, shakes, waney edges, bows and twists, along with sanding marks in keeping with the rustic style. These are the qualities that set our furniture apart from the rest. And due to the nature of solid wood every piece will be different. Truly unique. One of a kind. Please note that placing your item near to a heat source can cause movement within the timber which may exaggerate these natural features.
Please note that all sizes and weights given are approximate. As we only use natural, solid timber, measurements can change slightly from one piece to another.
5 Fine Wax Finish Colours
To finish our wooden desks we use your choice of one of our supreme wax polishes. The finish is professionally applied with the highest attention to detail. And as the wax soaks into the different grains and features, it enhances their look and brings them to life. The available colours are:
- Walnut
- Teak
- Smoke Pine
- Medium Oak
- Rustic Pine
When viewing on screen, colours can look different from one screen to another. This makes it less reliable than seeing the real finished timber before your own eyes. Because you want the perfect colour for your home these finishes are available to purchase as small samples.
